2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS makes L.A. Auto Show Debut
The Los Angeles auto show got a sneak peek at the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS, and judging by the reactions of car enthusiasts everywhere, it did not disappoint. Whether discussing style, power, or safety, Mercedes-Benz has a reputation for pushing boundaries. This four-door coupe was chock-full of the innovations that fans have come to expect from the carmaker, and it’s time for a preview of what’s in store for drivers for next year.
Power in Efficiency
For so long, drivers have been forced to choose between power and fuel efficiency. Extra hours spent at the driver’s course were going to be a shock to both the driver’s wallet and to the environment. But the CLS manages to provide the fuel efficiency of a hybrid car with the power of a sports car, and it’s all thanks to the EQ Boost. The 3L engine is an inline-6 that delivers 369 lb-ft and 362 horsepower to the driver without any help. But once the EQ Boost is applied, the car gets an additional 21 horsepower and an astonishing 184 lb-ft additional torque. The EQ Boost kicks in during acceleration to assist the combustion engine ‘sail’ along even when it’s in high gear. It means a driver can navigate that sharp turn or tackle the onramp without worrying about their footprint.
Power in Intelligence
The Mercedes-Benz CLS is capable of speeds of up to 130 miles an hour with the help of the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission, and it’s supposed to debut with rear- or all-wheel drive options. The details of the car have been simplified to look sportier and more sophisticated, and the lights in front and in back have also been redesigned for 2019. This car will have a number of optional Driver Assist features, including PRESAFE®. This incredible technology can sense when an accident is going to happen and does everything in its power to avoid it. It not only applies the brakes automatically, it also alerts the driver and then braces itself to minimize the damages to both the vehicle and the driver. The CLS can help a driver steer, adjust speed based on the route, and help drivers keep a safe distance from other cars.
Power in Customization
The customization features in the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS are truly remarkable. Drivers can choose from more than 60 ambient light colors, but that’s just the beginning. The ENERGIZING comfort control does far more than provide the right lighting. Feeling a little beat up after the day? Let the driver seat give you a little massage. Need to chase away some of that stress? Let the fragrance and music options help you take a breather before you step on the pedal. Want a little fresh air even in the dead of winter? The ventilation system is designed to make it happen. ENERGIZING Comfort Control gives you an infinite amount of combinations to create the mood that works for you — whether you’re in a hurry or taking your time.
